using the DirectSound layer of portaudio i experience the following
problem:

the PaDeciveInfo of the tells me that the maxInputChannels are 4 ...
when trying to open this device as input device, i get the error
message: "Unanticipated Host Error."

opening the device with 2 channels works fine ...

- is this a known problem? if so, is there any known workaround?
- is this a portaudio problem or a problem of my implementation?
- if this is a portaudio problem, are there any ambitions to fix this?

thanks in advance ... tim

Hi Tim

Do you think you can fix your mail user agent to stop sending your messages
as attachments?
using the DirectSound layer of portaudio
<<<<

v18 or v19? what is your soundcard?
i experience the following
problem:

the PaDeciveInfo of the tells me that the maxInputChannels are 4 ...
when trying to open this device as input device, i get the error
message: "Unanticipated Host Error."
<<<<<

That means the DirectSound API returned an error code which PortAudio didn't
expect. The best thing to do would be to trace through the code and work out
where it's happening.
- is this a known problem? if so, is there any known workaround?
<<<

i havn't heard of this problem.
- is this a portaudio problem or a problem of my implementation?
<<<

hard to say. possibly a buggy driver which says it supports 4 channels when
it doesn't. perhaps a bug in portaudio...
- if this is a portaudio problem, are there any ambitions to fix this?
<<<<

of course we'd love to fix it if we can.

Ross.

bug tracker, is there?)
